#popforthepeople -- Roy Lichtenstein at the Skirball

Severo and I had a fortuitous alignment of schedules that enabled us to take advantage of Free Museum Day* to visit "Pop for the People: Roy Lichtenstein in L.A" at the Skirball Cultural Center.
We dressed appropriately. My BOOM! tunic caused a ruckus.
The show [up until 3/12/17] features a wide variety of work, from screenprints:
Roy Lichtenstein, Mao, Screenprint, 1971 plus Severo
to garments:
Roy Lichtenstein, Untitled  Shirt, Screenprint, 1979
Roy Lichtenstein, Spray Can Dress, 2011
to large-scale prints:
Our favorite was the interactive installation of Lichtenstein's 3D interpretation of Van Gough's Bedroom at Arles.

The bed was comfy!
Very timely is another interactive piece featuring the Oval Office and speech bubble placards that viewers can photograph. [How did they know? The show opened on October 7, a month before Election Day].
Roy Lichtenstein, I Love Liberty, Screenprint, 1982
If you happen to find yourself on the west side Friday, February 24, there will be a free special event, Late-Night Lichtenstein, 5-10pm. With swag and music, and the parking is always free!

*Free Museum Day involved over 30 institutions in soCal. Here's a listing of normal free days in the LA region.

If you would like YOUR sketch on one of those sale items, let me know ASAP so that I can upload it before Wednesday night.

Ruth wore a purple tee with her sketch to my Fashion Rainbow reception in December.
So meta.
I'm wearing my 3.1 Phillip Lim x Target scarf that I made into a tunic.

But that's not all!

[do I sound like a late night "As Seen on TV" ad?]

To further complicate your shopping choices, I've also created a shop on Redbubble*.
There are an interesting variety of things you can get printed with my imagery, SCARVES particularly drew my attention. I've been wanting to print on scarves for many years.
$35!! I'm getting one and will report back on the quality.
Happy shopping! I get small commissions from Society6 and Redbubble and I thank you for your patronage.
One drawback from these services is that I'm not told who my collectors are. If you've purchased something of mine, do shoot a photo and share it on IG, FB, or Twitter. Tag me @annembray on IG and Twitter, Anne M Bray on FB. THANKS!

Or, even better, I'll make I made a Happy Shoppers page with a linkup and you can link there.

*Hat tip to Catherine of Not Dressed As Lamb for enlightening me about Redbubble!

Lunch Break Fashion Sketches 1/23-27

Who were my #lunchbreakfashionsketch muses this week?

Mercedes of @COTDstyle
Catherine of Not Dressed As Lamb
Shelbee of @shelbeeontheedge
Amy, who posted her look to the COTDstyle Facebook group
(This is a closed group and well worth joining if you enjoy colorful fun outfits!)
Sonya Ann of @sonyaann
This week was my first full teaching day on Thursday. Happy to say that the "mobile studio" transitioned nicely to the Otis parking garage. I have a four hour gap between classes and my back seat sketching filled some of the time.
Follow me on Instagram @annembray to see the sketches in "real" time (depending upon your IG algorithm). Want to be a muse? I'm always open to requests!

On a side note, I find Tumblr organizes my IGs better than Instagram. My hashtags on Tumbler will go to just my own images instead of all that deploy them. The Tumblr Archive feature is awesome as well.

Colors of the Day Style Challenge #COTDstyle

This week, I discovered a fun Instagram Challenge hosted by @COTDstyle:

Every weekday, Mercedes posts two colors or a color and a pattern for outfit inspiration.

Tuesday was yellow and purple:

I wore purple and green:

One of my favorite aspects of the challenge is finding my lunchtime muse to sketch
(I got tired of sketching myself).

On Tuesday, I sketched @wookie_the_wonder_dog
And on Thursday I went to the art supply store and got some colors that I was lacking, including a decent Royal Purple!
